I am reading a delightful travel guide which is a wonderful read for adventuring women and armchair travelers as well. Some of the 100 places are familiar, some not. The author describes experiences at each destination that appeal specifically to women’s interests. The invitation to “adventure, inspiration, celebration, empowerment, renewal” appears on the cover. Below are a few examples of chapter headings:
Madonna Sightings Around the World
Savannah, Georgia: The Lady Ghosts
Famed Chocolate Sights
Places to Dance the Tango and the Texas Two-Step
Evita and the Mothers of the Disappeared
Places to Swim with Sea Creatures
Famous Women Writers and Their Creative Nooks
The chapters are filled with history, geography, social commentary, and inspiration. It provides a wealth of information delivered in a lively, imaginative style. Numerous websites are given for internet surfers. Rather than being a day-to-day guide for any of the destinations mentioned, the author sparks the reader’s curiosity about our wild, wacky, wonderful world.
The author’s most recent book is “Mexican Enough.” She will be in Corpus Christi on September 16th at Heritage Park and St. Pius Church.
